Programs and Town of Pleasant Valley Recreation Sponsored Events Include:

 

Note:  Residents are all those who live within the boundaries of the Town of Pleasant Valley; Eligible Non-Residents are those people, in the towns of Poughkeepsie and Lagrange who live within the local Arlington C.S.D. area that attend Traver Road Primary and J. D’Aquanni West Road Schools.

 

Fall Competitive Youth Soccer:

What Is It?    An 8 Week Competitive Game Program, for all resident and eligible non-resident youths,

Kindergarten through High School Seniors.  This is a Full Uniform Program

When?    Games begin the 2nd Saturday after Labor Day.  Divisions may begin practices  in late August.

All Games are played on Saturdays, Rain dates are Sundays, Practices are weekday Evenings

Where?    All Games and Practices are at J. D’Aquanni West Road School

Spring Instructional Soccer:

What Is It?    A 6 Week Program for all youths eligible for our Fall Youth Soccer Program. 

The Program is loosely structured and consists of Scrimmage games among participating players

with on field coaching. 

When?    9:00AM, Saturday mornings, May and early June

NOTE:  All Youths who participate in Fall Youth Soccer are already registered for this program!

1st and 2nd Grade Drop-In Instructional Basketball:

What Is It?    A Winter Instructional Basketball Program for all resident and eligible non-resident youths, in the 1st and 2nd Grade.  Loosely structured, it’s goals are to begin teaching and developing basic basketball skills of young children.  There are separate time slots for boys  and  girls. 

This is a T-Shirt Program

When?    Saturdays during the months of January, February and early March 

Where?    Traver Road School Gym

Competitive Youth Basketball:

What Is It?    A Winter Basketball Games Program for all resident and eligible non-resident youths,

 3rd through 12th Grade.  There are separate Girls and Boys Divisions.  This is a Full Uniform Program  When?    Games in all Divisions begin in January and usually continue through the end of March.  Some Divisions may begin Practice in late November   Games are typically on Weekday Evenings

Where?    The Program uses local school Gyms, including Traver Road School, West Road School, BOCES - Salt Point and Arlington Middle School

Summer Drop-In Program:

What Is It?    A 6 week drop-in playground program, in a day camp-like environment, for all resident and eligible non-resident youths who are starting 1st grade through starting 9th grade.  It provides a Drop-In Center where youths can participate in varied, supervised recreational activities, such as Sports, Arts & Crafts, Group Play, Board Games, Special Events and more!   

When?    The 6 weeks of July and early August; Program Hours are from 9AM to 2PM

Where?    The Program uses 2 local sites:  West Road School is the site used by the Program for Youth entering 1st through 5th Grade in September; 

PV Rec Park, behind PV Town Hall is the site for Youth beginning Grades 6 though 9th

Counselor-In-Training Program:

What Is It?    A Program for interested 13 and 14 year old Youth, that occurs during the 6 week Summer Drop-In Program.  Program Objective is to teach and develop skills necessary to be a Counselor in a Summer or Camp Program.  This is a Volunteer Position, not a job, nor is participation in this Program a guarantee of future employment as a Counselor in our Summer Drop-In Program. 

Applications for this Program are available in the Rec Office; must be completed by the applicant

and submitted, along with a letter of recommendation from a leader in the community,

by the end of the April.

 

Huck Finn Days Weekend:

What Is It?    A fun, free 2 mornings of fishing for the youth to age 15, of Pleasant Valley.  The event is hosted by the members of the P.V. Trout & Game Club and includes trophies each day. 

Bait is available for purchase.

When?    The Final Saturday and Sunday in April, from 8AM to 12Noon

Where?    PV Trout & Game Club, Salt Point Turnpike, Pleasant Valley

Town of Pleasant Valley Recreation Youth Dances:

At present, there are no Planned Recreation Youth Dances.

 

Adult Drop-In Basketball:

What Is It?  Adult Drop-In Recreational Basketball open to men and women.

When?    Meets on Tuesday evenings  at 7:30 PM during the months of October through March

Where?    J. D’Aquanni West Road School gym
